I Sheffield is to use double-deck buses .nd language laboratories to help inmigrants to the city to learn English. The cheme is the brain-child of Mr Farouk :hamma who is concerned that not enough umigrants are attending English lessons at he various centres set up in the city.
Mr Shamma, who teaches at Richmond 7ollege, Sheffield, believes that more people rill board these mobile language teaching chools if they tour areas where the nmigrants live. During the day it is lanned to lend the buses to schools so that ley will be fully utilized.
Double-deck buses from Sheffield City 'ransport have been chosen so that the top ecks can be fitted out as classrooms and inguage laboratories be established in the nver saloons.
