• Local authorities in the Hexham area of Northumberland, along with Northumberland county council, ar,. considering raising their subsidy to Tyne Valley Coaches Ltd. from £4800 to the limit of £8000. The subsidy is for the Newborough to Bellingham bus service and comprises the difference between the 13p per mile running costs and the income from the service. The increased subsidy was suggested after the company had announced its intention to revise the existing timetables. Of the new subsidy. Northumberland council will pay £4000 and the rest will be shared between Hexham rural, Hexham urban, and Bellingham rural councils.
