• Following the setting up of the Merseyside Passenger Transport Authority on April 1, Mr. Richard Marsh, Minister of Transport, has now made the Merseyside Passenger Transport Area (Transfer of Undertakings) Order 1969.

This transfers the road passenger transport and ferry undertakings of Birkenhead and Wallasey and the road passenger transport undertaking of Liverpool to the Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive, which is to be established on November 1. The Order, made on September 24, will come into operation on November 1, and provides for the transfer of the undertakings to the Executive to take place on December 1, 1969 Earlier this year the Minister made similar Orders for the West Midlands and SELNEC PTAs on October 1, and November 1, respectively. He will be making an Order for Tyneside when the Executive is established and ready to assume responsibility for the undertakings in that Area.
