• The Minister of Housing and Local Government has dismissed the appeal of Mrs Berta McCrone (CM August 22) against the refusal of planning permission by Cumberland County Council for erection of a restaurant, hoUse dormitory accommodation, filling station and vehicle parks at her -Nook Cafeat Stoneybeck, a mile north of Penrith where M6 by-pass of the town rejoins A6 to Carlisle.
The letter announcing the Minister's decision states that the inspector, who conducted the inquiry, was of opinion that the proposal would generate a substantial increase in traffic at both the appeal site and the adjacent Stoneybeck roundabout, interfering with traffic flows.
