M.25 is set to go ahead whatever restraints are put on public spe ding.
T e road is under no public expenditure constraints because it is bing given the highest priority in the programme, promised Kenieth Clarke, Parliamentary Secretary for Transport, in the Co mons last week.
"I is unlikely that any public expenditure considerations applying to the roads programme as a whole will be so severe that they affect progress on the M25," he added.
He looked forward to "fairly dramatic" lengths of the highway bein under construction in the next year or two.
