Delegates to the Road Haulage Association's conference at Eastbourne recently were taken aback to find that the smiling portrait of John Silbermann above a message of welcome to them in the lobby of the headquarters hotel had been "improved."
Who would have had the temerity. to decorate the chairman's picture with spectacles, moustache and beard? None other, I am told, than his charming and irrepressibe wife.
