MILTON Keynes Coaches Ltd has won an express service licence before the East Midland Traffic Area for a daily commuter service between Milton Keynes and London.
The application was considered after the Commissioners had published a condition of variation of all excursions and tours licences. These licences do not authorise holders to operate services at fixed times.
Milton Keynes Coaches had been operating a service under an excursion and touring licence since 1976. The Commissioners approved the conditions to allay doubts as to the nature of services to be operated under the excursions and tours licences.
The Commissioners decided, after hearing a substantial number of. witnesses, that a regular commuter service on this route was desirable in the public interest and provided an alternative to British Rail services without taking traffic from BR. The application was therefore granted.
