Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SEEN for the first time in this country is the Chenard-Walcker tractor and trailers. This is a 10-tonner known as the B 10 type, equipped with fourcylindered engine of 80 mm. bore and 150 mm. stroke, the cooling water for which is circulated thermo-siplionically, whilst ignition is attended to by an h.-t. magneto. This is not a combined tractor-trailer, but an independent tractor especially designed for drawing fourwheeled trailer-s.

Two trailers are being shown ; the type M has steel artillery wheels, is rubber tyred and carries a load of 5 tons, and th3 type MP is of the same capacity but has pneumatic tyres.

The chief feature of the design is the connection between the tractor and trailer, the swivel connection between the two is carried on a vertical screw provided with a bevel winding gear, and by turning the screw the point of adjustment is raised or lowered, so that the _Pressure on the rear wheels of the tractor can be adjusted to meet the circumstances, affording more or less road grill as required.

The height-adjusting screw is carried in a split sheath and the trailer drawbar rests on a collar and hooks round the sheath, so that it is always firmly secured. The sheath is carried by a strong bracket supported by T-shaped rolled steel cross-bearers bolted to the frame side members.

The tractor has four speeds and double-reduction axle of the dual type with a separate load-carrying member, the final drive being by internal gears:

At the back is a type of Steel ramp, up which the trailer drawbar can slide, and as the locking mechanism is arranged to act automatically it is merely necessary to back the tractor against the trailer to connect them.

The price of this intereiting machine is £475 complete with seven Michelin steel wheels, electric lighting and startequipment and a powerful hoisting winch. The M type trailer is priced at £175 and the MP type at £250.
