FREIGHT EXCHANGES uShip and Shiply have settled a copyright dispute with a compensation and redesign agreement.

Online backloads service Shiply.com has agreed to redesign its website and pay compensation to its competitor uShip, following complaints of trademark and copyright infringements brought by the latter to the High Court in London.

Robert Matthams, MD of Shiply, says: “We have already redesigned our website, and have agreed to implement further changes to our logo and other elements at issue.

“We hope that it will remove any chance of association between uShip and Shiply for customers, transporters and the community.” Matt Chasen, CEO of uShip, adds: “We have been copied by dozens of competitors since we launched in 2004.

“As this litigation shows, we will vigorously defend our intellectual property rights in Europe, the US, and other parts of the world.”
