BRITISH Road Services Group results published recently show that it increased its turnover from £98m in 1976 to £114.5m in 1977. The trading profit showed an increase from £5.7m to £6.8m, with a net profit of £2.2m.
Reconstruction suggested in the White Paper made no specific proposals directly affecting BRS but the National Freight Corporation had already strongly expressed a hope that the scope of the Bill would be broadened to relieve, for example, BRS and other companies of some of their inherited pensions burden.
