Geoffrey Lusher has succeeded Ken Sutton as operations manager for the north division of the West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive. He was previously with • the Bristol Omnibus Company, City of Oxford Motor Services Ltd and Maidstone and District Motor Services Ltd, and joined the PTE in 1974. Mr Sutton has become the PTE's director of operations.

W. D. Lockhard, of Alliance Smurfit Cases (Scotland) Ltd, has been elected chairman of the West Scotland division of the Freight Transport Association. J. E. Mackay (Coats Paton Ltd) and W. Robb (Win. W. Stevenson Ltd) have been elected vicechairmen.

Joining Oxford-South Midland (National Bus Company) as assistant company secretary is David Foster, who has spent seven years with the Amey Roadstone Corporation.

John Stevenson, general manager of the Lincolnshire Road Car Company (NBC) since 1972, is to be seconded to the Department of Transport as bus adviser from April 1. Mr Stevenson has spent 46 years in public transport, holding various appointments with Western National, Eastern National, Thames Valley and Midland General.

Peter Scully, whose secondment. to the D'Tp ends on March 31, will become operational development executive at NBC. He was previously general manager of \A„.....ider Valley Services. Ken Potts has joined Hestair Dennis Ltd as sales manager from Ailsa Bus Ltd, of Irvine, where he was sales manager for five years.

London Transport has made two appointments in its supplies department. D. Bailey, who joined London Transport in 1956, becomes stores manager and M. S. Masters assistant contracts officer.

Norman Sidney has been appointed sales engineer by Tecalemit Garage Equipment Ltd, succeeding Dennis Graham, who was recently appointed northern regional manager by the company. Mr Sidney has for the past four years been a sales executive with National Tyre Services (Garage Equipment) Ltd.

Niall Hamilton has become general manager of Heron Trucks, Aberdeen. He was previously contracts operations manager with Heron Trucks, Edinburgh.

Obituary

We announce with regret the death of H. J. (Pop) Cutler.

Mr Cutler, who was managing director of H. J. Cutler Ltd, of Hamworthy, Poole, was one of the few people elected a life member of the Road Haulage Association. He served for many years on the National Council as well as the Southern Area Committee, and had spells as area chairman and sub-area chairman. He was also managing director and one of the founders of what is now the Wessex Group Training Association.
