The news came during a meeting between the International Hauliers' Federation, the Continental Freight Drivers' Club and DTp officials last week.

The meeting had been arranged to discuss permits, following complaints by the IHF over allocation and quotas of permits.

Now the two organisations are to submit other suggestions to the department on how permits could be distributed.
