IN our last issue we referred to the decision of the Merthyr Tydvil. Bcrough Council to purchase eight 26seater Leyland saloon buses with which to inaugurate a municipal service, and it is now stated that members 'of the public' works committee are to Visit the Leyland Co.'s works in order to inspect varioustypes of --bodysuitable . for
mounting "on the c.hassis. . . •
Messrs. Snow and Sons have offered to sell to the Corporation .their two saloon buses at present on the road and their two workmen's buses, and a subcommittee is to interview the firm on
the matter: • .The corporation proposes to acquire land adjoining the derelict Glamorganshire canal, with the object of erecting a garage on the site.
In connection with the question of. types of bus to be purchased, the subcommittee had trial trips in examples of the following makes of vehicle, concerning which the manufacturers gave the particulars indicated:— CoMISIER CAB, 40 H. P. Petrol consumption, 1 gallon for 6.5 miles.• Weight of chassis, 2 tons 18 mat. 2 qrs. Weight of omnibus when full, 6 tons

THORNYCHOFT, 30 H. P.
Petrol consumption, 1 gallon for 10 to 12 miles.
Weight of chassis, 2 tons 3 cwt. Weight of omnibus when full, 3 tons 11 cwt Seating accommodation, 20. Cost, £800.
