Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

tenance. Part of my work includes attending breakdowns and the recovery of company vehicles, both heavy and light commercials, and after the latest revisions of driving regulations apertaining to heavy goods vehicles, there is a good deal of confusion. The main example of this concerns when after clocking in at 8 a. m., I am sent out on a breakdown at 6 p.m. How long am I permitted to drive under the new regulations? Would it make any difference if the same thing happened while on a 70hour night shift?

ABecause part of your employment requires you to drive vehicles to which the drivers hours regulations apply, you are allowed to work only 11 hours on duty for your employer on the days that you drive. This means that if you start work at 8 a.m. and during that day you are required to drive, you must not work (or be "on duty") for more than 11 hours, ie not after 7.30 p.m. if you have half-hour off-duty break during the day. If you have a longer off-duty period you can work later, but you cannot in any case be on duty for more than 12+ hours (with 1+ hour's break) in any day.

As you do not spend the whole day driving it is not the total driving hours which you have to watch, but the total on-duty hours.
