The Presidential Address

I N his presidential address, Ann. H. CLARK, J.P., chairman, Rochda.12. Transport Committee, said that 189 essayists, from a staff of some 70,000 persons in municipal transport, constitute an inadequate recognition of the facilities provided by the Association solely for employees. During 10 years ended 1934-1935, the revenue from municipal tramways declined from 124,000,000 to 113,500,000, and the passengers from 4,000,000,000 to 2,500,000,000. The surplus, after meeting working expeOses, debt-repayment, etc., increased from id. for every 25 passengers M. 1931-1932 to Id. for every eight in 19341935. These figures suggest the rapid extinction of tramways indebtedness, and continued acceleration in the transition to other modes of conveyance.
