Gold medal THE CASTROL Gold Medal of the Institute of the Motor Industry has been awarded to David Plastow, group managing director of RollsRoyce Motors Ltd and president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, for "his outstanding advocacy in support of road transport in general and the British motor industry in particular."

The presentation of the medal to Mr Plastow was made by Max Roberts, Castrol's managing director, at the Royal Automobile Club, London, on January 30.

Joining forces THE CHELTENHAM-based hydraulic tipping gear manufacturer, Telehoist, has joined forces with its Belgium distributor to form a new company — Telehoist Hum. blet NV. The new company will form a base for further market penetration in other EEC countries. Telehoist — a member of the Wilmot Breeden Group — expects to double its European sales turnover in 1978. Telehoist Humblet NV will be handling Telehoist's Load Luggers and tipping gear with associated spares, as well as marketing products complementary to Telehoist.
