a threatened strike by ownerdrivers could backfire on the company, claims Mike Binns of the drivers' association NODA.
NODA, dealt a recognition snub by ARC last month, will regain members and eventually cripple the firm, he says, because managers lost "an ideal opportunity" to mend damaged relations with employees.
He alleges that drivers were visited at work and warned that their contracts could be terminated if they went on strike, while nonNODA members were told they would not be given work in the future if they refused to cross picket lines.
Binns says the area managers went round depots after learning of the planned strike in Commercial Motor.
