Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MAKERS of prime movers and in trailers are to standardize upon two types of connecting gear as advised by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. The S.M.M.T. last week issued descriptions of standard hooks for trailers of 5-13-ton and 5-35-ton gross weight, and drawbar eyes and foreearriage pins for trailers not exceeding 13 tons and 35 tons gross weight.

Although these are the first types of connection recommended as standards by the S.M.M.T., the designs have been in use for some time. Manufacturers-have now, however, agreed to adopt them solely, so that there may be universal interchangeability between different models of tractor and trailer.

Recommendations by the S.M.M.T. as to minimum qualities of materials to be used are new. No generally observed rules on this matter have hitherto been laid down.
