Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Arrangements are being made by the Institution of Petroleum Technologists, in co-operation with an organizing committee in Scotland, for holding a conference in Scotland from June 0-11. The programme will include visits of inspection of the operations of the Scottish shale industry. The president of the conference will be Sir Thomas Holland, principal and vice-chancellor of Edinburgh University, and the vice-president, Sir Hector Hetherington, principal and vicechancellor of Glasgow University. The conference will probably be held in Glasgow, where the Empire Exhibition will be in progress.

Plymouth C.A.V.-Bosch Depot.

To give local service to roadtransport operators and others in the West Country, a C.A.V.-Bosch service depot has been established at Salisbury Road, Plymouth. Factory-trained mechanics will deal there with all classes of repair on electrical and fuelinjection equipment.

Big Grants for Hebrides Roads.

Grants from the Road Fund, totalling over £140,000, have been made by the Minister of Transport for the improvement •of roads in the Hebrides. The improvements form a continuation of the Crofter Counties programme and are designed to facilitate the movement of traffic between Tarbert, in Harris Island, and Stornoway, in Lewis, and on the Barvas-Ness road on the north-west coast of LeWis. The schemes have already been put in hand and will probably all be completed early in 1940.

Many bridges are to be rebuilt and the road from Tarbert to Balallan (21 miles) is to be remade.

ANOTHER M. OF T. DEPUTATION?

The B.R.F. has asked the Minister of Transport to receive another deputation to discuss variations of licensing procedure. A deputation of operators' organizations waited on the Minister in July last, and, since that date, further information in the form of a statement has been sent to the Minister by the Federation.
