Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• North Eastern Deputy Licensing Authority John Hampton has reserved decision on an application by Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council to renew its national licence in respect of 179 vehicles and 25 trailers, following representations concerning its Thome Depot.

The DLA was faced with a petition of 100 signatures from local residents in relation to the use of the depot.

For the residents, it was argued that the Thorne Depot was wrongly described as being in West Street, and that it was a refuse depot. They expressed concern about nine HG Vs being based there, saying that the access lane was narrow and unsafe.

Nicholas HoIroyd, for the council, pointed out that the depot had been established in 1925, and was previously licensed to Thorne District Council.

The assistant director of public works and the divisional transport manager said the depot was regarded as being in West Street and that it had been licensed as an operating centre for nine vehicles for some time.
