Want to read some sobering statistics? In a recent profile of Commercial Motor readers, we discovered the following facts: within the survey group of 1,500, 55% had worked within the industry for 21 years or more, while the average reader age was 47.

"I'm not surprised!" you say. The industry has long had a solid core of experienced professionals who've been around long enough to know the difference between a camshaft and a mineshaft—so what?

Well, look beyond that and what do you find? Within that group of 1,5oo, only 6% had been in the industry for five years or less, and a similar number were under 30. What does that say for the industry's ability to attract young blood?
