Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Steve Brook and Emma Penny iveco has confirmed it is testing a 620hp turbo-compound version of its Cursor 13 in-line six, currently offered at a top 540hp rating with a single turbo in the Stralis.

Although the Italian truck and engine maker has never made any secret of the fact that its 13-litre six-pot would ultimately go beyond the 500hp barrier—not least driven by changes in legislation—this is the first time it has hinted at what its ultimate rating might be. A 620hp Cursor 13 would certainly put Iveco high up on the top power table, although the Italian truck maker insists it will not be offering "power for power's sake".

In a recent visit to its Australian operation, lveco boss Michel de Lambert revealed that the turbo-compound big diesel was being tested at 620hp, although he added that a launch date was yet to be decided.

lveco's ITAL operation down-under is currently riding high, with healthy profits and strong sales well ahead of previous expectations. Its Dandenong assembly plant is also now producing CKD EuroTech kits for sale in South Africa.

Closer to home, a smaller brew) Stralis version is to be launched in fleet and distribution day-cabbed versions in the second half of this year. The newcomer is to be launched to the press in midApril, and will "follow the theme of Active Space" in the current Stralis model, said the company's communications director Nigel Emms.

"A lot of features and benefits in the Active Space range will follow on into the fleet sector," he says.

The company is expected to have completed a revamp of its entire range by the end of this year; industry sources believe this will include a successor to the Cargo range.
