Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by police and the Vehicle Inspectorate this week following six serious accidents involving HGVs.

Police say the checks, known as Operation Sleepwalker, are necessary to "address problems with driver error on this road", which is an extension of the M6 leading into Scotland.

Last year, there were five accidents resulting in three deaths and four people seriously injured. One truck driver has already died on the road this year.

During the crackdown, the 50mph speed limit will be enforced "rigorously", and those drivers unable to produce sufficient tachograph charts will face a 24-hour prohibition. Where tachograph offences are found, both driver and company will be prosecuted.

Police are reminding owners of parked vehicles in laybys that they must have sufficient righting.
