EEC TRANSPORT Ministers may discuss proposed amendments to drivers' hours regulations at their next meeting, which is scheduled for June 10. Our Brussells correspondent reports.

Social regulation 543/69 is under review at present, and an

EEC Commission spokesman told CM: "We accept that some aspects of the regulation are far too rigid. For example, it is necessary at present for a works vehicle to be fitted with a tachograph to cross a public road from one factory to another."

He said that matters such as this could be dealt with in a discussion paper presented to the transport council meeting in June, but added: "The problem of irregular daily and weekly driving hours is a more complicated matter."
