• Local authority expenditure on concessionary fares for old-age pensioners using municipal bus services should be classified as relevant expenditure for rate support grant, said Mr Michael McNair-Wilson (Tory, New Forest) in the Commons.
He urged the Transport Minister to see that this was done, but Mr Mulley told him that local authorities had always met their expenditure on travel concessions on their municipal bus services from their own resources.
