Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WHEN South Yorkshire police were told that a one-ton object had dropped off the back of a lorry they could be forgiven for being a bit sceptical.

But this time it was not a villain making a lame excuse for " finding " some stolen property. For there in the middle of Cleveland Way, Doncaster, was a massive engine and gearbox assembly.

It fell from a vehicle on the morning of July 31, but the driver did not stop. So the police carted the assembly, Which has the serial number 29456 stamped on it, away to their garage to wait for a claim to be lodged.

And they are still waiting. The driver did not report the loss and the owners have not claimed it. Attempts by the police to get the assembly positively identified have also failed.

So if you are missing a oneton lump of metal "A" Division at Doncaster (tel 66744) would like to hear from you. They don't know what to do with it, either.
