Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A YORKSHIRE TRUCKSTOP owner is urging hauliers to lobby their MP and support plans to relocate its site nearer to a new junction on the upgraded A1(M), or else they’ll lose a valuable service.

Michael Exelby says he has already spent over £400,000 on a planning inquiry into his application to move Exelby Services in Londonderry two miles away, after it lost half its business when work to upgrade the road began in 2010.

After lengthy delays a decision from the Secretary of State is finally due in August, but Exelby fears that if a Judicial Review is secured then 40 miles of the A1 in North Yorkshire will remain without LGV services for the foreseeable future.

The plans are to develop 12 acres of land adjacent to the new motorway junction and offer drivers secure parking with 110 spaces, fuel, showers, a shop and truckwash.

“The proposal was to have our site developed in time for the opening of the new road, but that was two months ago.

“We are sat waiting for a decision and truck drivers have poor service through North Yorkshire.

“Even if we get approval it will take us nearly a year to build the site.”
