• Mercedes-Benz is to launch its new, high povvei tractive units in Britain in September, UK operatiorn director David Thomas announced last week.
Speaking at the present tion of the company's Triu Dealer of the Year award 1 Euro Commercials of Card Thomas said the 1635 and 2035 with 261kW (350hp) 1644 with 328kW (440hp) engines will enhance the o pany's increasingly succes UK range.
He admitted that the co: pany's rise to second place the over-3.5-tonne truck n ket in the first four month: this year was unplanned.
M-B attributes part of it success to the "runaway" sales success of the LN2 range of distribution truck: but also accepts that the u certainty generated by the Iveco/Ford merger and th( Leyland/General Motors U has helped it too.
