• VDO, one of the world's largest independent instrument and electronics manufacturers, is to introduce an electronic road speed limiter for heavy goods vehicles, buses and coaches.
It uses electronic actuators and, although fitted to the engine, takes its speed input from the tachograph so that the driver can accelerate to the preset speed under full power.
Operation is said to be smooth and devoid of any hunting characteristics.
