The Minister of Transport has appointed Mr. L. A. Carey, chairman of the Transport Users' Consultative Committee, for the East Anglia area to succeed Captain W. H. Coombs. Sixty-five-year-old Mr. Arthur Lewis has retired from the Automobile Association. Mr, Lewis, transport manager of the A.A. since 1954, is known to every A.A. patrol in Great Britain and also throughout the motor and motorcycle industry. He joined the A.A. as a road patrol in his native Wales in 1922 and by 1935 had reached the rank of superintendent. He served in both World Wars.

Mr. D. J. Meredith, district superintendent, Hastings area, of Maidstone and District Motor Services Ltd., is to be district superintendent, Medway Towns, from June 1, in succession to Mr. J. A. H. Snell, who is to become traffic manager of the Greyhound Bus Lines Ltd„ Johannesburg, South Africa.

Mr. C. J. Buchanan-Dunlop has been appointed manager of the London sales office of Alcan Industries Ltd.: Mr. A. Gregory is the new manager of the Birmingham sales office (he is replaced as castings and forgings division sales manager by Mr. G. W. Budd) and Mr. P. D. Wade has been appointed manager of the Bristol sales office.

The British Wagon Co. Ltd., announces that Mr. J. E. R. Denny has been promoted to area manager for South Wales. Mr. Denny will continue to operate from the company's Swansea branch, where he has been manager since October, 1960.

Mr. A. E. Brewer, Brewers Motor Services, Caerau, has been re-elected chairman of the South Wales area of the Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association. Mr. H. F. Hill, C. G. Hill and Sons (Tredegar) Ltd., was re-elected vicechairman.

Mr. C. B. Sandford has been appointed southern area manager of Robert Kearsley, a division of Pinchin Johnson and Associates, the Courtaulds' subsidiary.
