vibration research engineer, I am particulalry interested in your Roadtest in-cab noise results.

We at Perkins Engineering have been aware of this problem for several years and measure our in-cab noise levels at a fixed position for each vehicle installation. The point B shown in the diagrams is the test point for in-cab noise recommended by ;British Standard BS 6086: 191, one of a number of organisations which recommend a fixed test position for in-cab noise measurements. The figures indicate that for a variation in position of less than 0.5 metres (19.7 inches) the measured in-cab noise level changed by up to 4.5 dBA.

Hence, drivers of different height and/or driving position little "buddy", a black poodle.

On Thursday, 17 March 1988 at 3.00pm he was loading at the Steel Plating Section, Mossend, Bellshill when this little dog went missing. We don't know if someone has picked her up thinking she was lost or what! But we have searched and searched the area as well as informing all the appropriate authorities.

We never thought her missing would cause so much heartache and worry.

Having been a "long distance buddy" since she was 6 weeks old (she is now 2 years) and besotted with her master (no wonder — she is alone with him for 5/6 days a week, 24 hours a day), I am not sure if she would settle with another owner.

THE DUSTCART RECORD PUT STRAIGHT • Your article on the Britannia 6x4 chassis (CM 17-23 March) was refreshing in its acknowledgement of the hardworking "dustcart".

However, apart from Shelyoke Dempster in your comparison being cheapest to buy (Retail Price Comparison) which is correct, the reference to payload is in error. The Shelvoke Dempster PT 6x4 has a tare weight of 11,320kg giving a payload of 13.07 tonnes, not the 11.32 indicated.
