AUTOSENSE Equipment, of Bicester, Oxfordshire, has won a contract worth over £100,000 to provide a computer control and data acquisition system for engine test calls at R. A. Lister and Company, of Dursley in Gloucestershire.
The system, the Autosense Series 3000, has been designed to automate the full range of routine endurance and development test schedules which have traditionally been done manually at Lister, which claims to be Britain's largest manufacturer of air-cooled diesel engines.
Initially, the system will control four test beds and will be capable of testing Lister's complete range of one to six cylinder, 2.2 to 224 kW (three to 300bhp) air and water-cooled engines.
Major benefits claimed for the new system are faster and more accurate testing, the ability to provide a printed record of all test parameters, and a high degree of test cell automation.
The Autosense system is due to be installed and commissioned during the latter part of 1982.
