Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• As from tomorrow York Trailer Co. Ltd. is to replace its trailers' TA suspension by the TS suspension introduced at the Show last year. It has optional single taper-leaf springs and is claimed to be 551b lighter than the TA.

The TA suspension will still be available as an option.

Inclusion of single-leaf Springs will result in an increase of £13 to the list price on a single-axle trailer, £26 on a tandem and £39 on a three-axle. The use of single-leaf springs results in a weight saving of 2201b over a standard TS, and 2751b over the TA.

The TA widespread bogie is to be withdrawn, while the TS that replaces it has axle centres of 84in. as opposed to the TA's 80in. as a result of its introduction the price of a York widespread bogie semitrailer drops by £37 to £1,650, while the possible axle loading goes up from 9 tons to 10 tons per axle. In order to preserve the interchangeability of parts, TS suspension components will be used in the construction of single-axle models also. This will not result in alterations either to the price or the weights of these units.

York also announces that in future with the Ti' models (designed for use with three-axle tractive units), the standard kingpin location for these units will be 60in. instead of 54in. A price change for the York heavy-duty 22,500lb axle with 15.5 by 8.25in. brake gear reduces the cost of specifying these units in place of the standard axle from £41 to £10 on the tandem-axle trailer. The standard axle has 15.5 by 7in. brakes.
