COMB1N1NG light weight with good grip for the tracked vehicles that it will be used to carry, the special centre-section decking on this Dyson low-loader is stressed into the main structure. The outer sections of the deck are laid longitudinally in 3 in. hardwood boards supported by dropped outriggers to bring them flush with the steel centre deck.
This design, together with the use of high-tensile steel in the construction of the frame, has enabled the unit to be substantial enough to accept a 40-ton load concentrated over an 8 ft. section of the bed, without the trailer exceeding an unladen weight of Ii tons. The lower deck length is a clear 22 ft. 9 in. and the width 8 ft. 6 in. Two-line air-pressure operates 15.5 in. by 7 in. brakes on all wheels.
