Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

XT R A costs estimated at £305,000 are I the background to an application for increased fares by Ribble Motor Services Ltd. The application will be considered by the North Western Traffic Commissioners towards the end of January.

The application is designed to yield £220,000 a year extra revenue. An increase in express fares now under consideration would make up the balance.

On inter-urban services the 3d. minimum fare would remain, but for a maximum distance of 0-5 mile instead of the present 065 mile. All other single fares would rise by Id.

Town service fares would be revised by increasing all odd fd. fares from 2-1-d. to 10d. by Id. and by altering the mileage scale for fares of 6d, or over so that certain 6d. fares and all 7d., 8d., 9d. and 10d. fares would rise by Id.

In an attempt to ensure the continuance of rural bus services the company is proposing a special scale of fares in country districts—ld. to be added to single fares in the lower ranges, rising to an extra 3d. for higher fares.
