THE Motor Traffic Amendment Bill
having passed its Third Reading before the North Rhodesian Legislative Council, the Thatcher Hobson road passenger and goods transport undertaking is to be taken -over from the State by the United Transport Co.
Thatcher Hobson have 250 vehicles. Their name will be changed to Central African Road Services and the capital will be increased to LIm. Vehicles to the value of £250,000 will be purchased in 1955 and a substantial building programme embarked upon.
United Transport, who are associate with the British Electric Traction Co., Ltd., already operate in 11 African territories.
