Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Northern Ireland manufacturer Montracon has produced lightweight versions of its curtain-sided and skeletal semitrailers.

Changes to its 12.2m standard and TIR tilt curtain-siders include the use of 406trun(16in) high longitudinals instead of the usual 482mm beams, but with no reduction in the 178mm neck. It has also opted to fit eight tonne-rated RO-R axles rather than 10-tonne units. mounted beneath Flexair suspension.

Slightly smaller S-cam brakes — 420 x 180nun — are specified; taken together these changes have reduced its unladen weight to 5,500kg.

The 'FIR trailer floor is 70rnm narrower than the standard curtain-sider but the extra lashing rings make any weight difference marginal. Montracon's lighter tri-axled skeletal, which tares out at 4,150kg, Users high-tensile steel flanges within its fabricated chassis.

Its rear end has a step-up area from the integral underrun that allows the driver access to the discharge hose. RO-R eight-tonne axles are used with underslung Flexair suspension, the rear having a liftilor, ver facility for tank draining. Suspensions have safety connecters that secure the axles in the event of a broken leaf.
