REACTION from the industry to the Government's proposals to denationalise the National Freight Corporation has been generally good.
The Road Haulage Association described the proposals as "intrinsically sound" and a spokesman said that the RHA "broadly welcomed" the proposals. The ideas were in line with what the NFC found acceptable, said a spokesman.
NFC and the RHA have had a close relationship for some years and the RHA sees the removal of the NFC to the private sector as potentially advantageous. "I don't think the change will harm the relationship, and I think it might well make it closer," said the spokesman.
