EAN Transport and Trading has announced an interim pre-tax profit of £665m for the half-year to June 30, 1979. This is considerably more than last year's 0.35m for the same period. Turnover was slightly up at £260.6m as compared with E2 3.4m in the first half of 1978. But Ocean says these results are sti 1 unsatisfactory, even though they are better than predicted. Th company's liner trades were particularly poor. UK landed activities are said to be "progressing well" (this includes th distribution company Cory), but for the group as a whole the Ful year prospects are still of only modest improvement.
