Glasgow curfew

GLASGOW busmen have imposed a curfew on city routes after attacks on busmen and they have banned schoolchildren from one route.

Greater Glasgow PTE director of industrial relations Joe Coyle told CM that the curfew was causing "considerable inconvenience" to passengers in the city.

"We had a meeting with the men; last week, and showed them the design for a new screen to be fitted to the buses. They have accepted it and now we are trying to get the screens fitted to the vehicles as soon as possible," he said.

The restrictions imposed by the men have included taking some routes halfway into certain areas only from Govan and Knightswood garages.

Mr Coyle said that the ban on schoolchildren was being operated for similar reasons.
