Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NO expert in electrickery, I tend to lag behind in appreciation of the technical developments in vehicle lighting, and I sometimes think that some of the "experts" have to admit to subjective bias when it comes to the crunch. Perhaps Joseph Lucas were achieving more than they knew when they set up a very interesting exercise at Brands Hatch recently, in which The Hawk somehow managed to get involved.

The idea was for each person to travel as passenger round Brands Hatch in seven successive cars each equipped with at least two different forms of Lighting and driven by knowledgeable Lucas aides who pressed the switches and explained what we were seeing. Things ran a bit late and I only managed four cars, but these, plus conversations with colleagues who travelled in others, provided some thought-provoking material. It seemed clear that Lucas were, in part at least, trying to convince us that iodinevapour headlamps and rectangular headlamp units had marked limitations for UK use. OK, now I'm convinced. By and large, the results with cars should apply to commercials, too.
