TRUCKS COULD BE given a 12-month exemption from the Manchester congestion charge, if the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA) agrees to it on Friday.
The possible dispensation came about as a result of the number of hauliers who registered complaints during the recent consultation process that the charge would make no difference to truck movements in Manchester.
Road Haulage Association northern director Geoff Dunning says: "AGMA has agreed that the haulage industry cannot be treated the same as passenger transport."
