Auction business is booming in thp run-up to the Christmas rush

eptember turned out to be a record month for the number of vehicles and items of plant rolling through Manheim Auction sites at both ends of the country.

From its venues at Colchester and Leeds, the company offered more than 4200 commercial vehicles and plant units to trade and private customers alike. Business has picked up considerably following the traditionally quiet summer period —the increased numbers have also meant solid sales figures.

National HGV and plant manager Jeremy Martell is upbeat."Manheines seven commercial vehicle centres are experiencing on average a 21.7% increase on conversion rate compared to 2002 and we expect this level of activity to remain until the end of the year," he says. "We are regularly seeing conversion rates of 67%. Buyers have been bidding keenly on stock in preparation for the Christmas rush and the increased amount of freight on the roads."

CM will be back on the road covering the auction scene next week.
