International view

This year's show was all about the Gem Two of their largest van manufacturers Mercedes and, particularly, VolkswagE had the most to shout about with bran vehicles on display.

In fact, it seemed that Volkswagen had planned the show to coincide wit Transporter launch and the unveiling c new generation Caddy. And if that wer not enough, the Transporter also pickc the prestigious International Van of the Award. Mercedes was not to be outdc with its attractive new Vito and a rather A-Class derived van, the Vaneo, whict is designed for the tax-breaks that the vehicles enjoy in the Netherlands.

Elsewhere, the French went down different route with new permutations ( established models with Citroen goinc rugged and offering a 4x4 version of it lingo, while Peugeot went for a roof ha version of its Partner van. Completing Gallic line-up was Renault's updated with a new 3.0 dCi diesel engine.

Mind you, the Europeans didn't ha it all their own way: Nissan had its rievs launched car-derived van. the Kubista and a rather interesting small concept called the Beeline that combines an o office with delivery capabilities. Once your invoicing and stock updating tasl are completed the desk folds away ar steering wheel folds down. No room fc bed so far, though.
