MERCEDES IS WORKING on a lightweight Atego eight-legger based on the successful Atego six-wheeler.
It's powered by the latest 7.2litre version of the Mercedes 900 Series engine. Power will be limited to 320hp, which will be enough for mixer and some aggregate operations.
The company has built two prototypes.The 9,050kgchassis-weight will appeal to many operators but John Baker, sales and marketing director at Mercedes-Benz UK, says: -We will only launch this truck when we are totally sure it is right for the market."
