Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Some 20 refuse vehicle drivers are in fear of their safety after some Rhondda residents protesting against the reopening of a local tip threatened to assault them, their families and their vehicles.

The Nant-y-Gwyddon tip, which residents are protesting against on health grounds, was reopened last week after it was declared safe by the Health and Safety Executive and the Environment

Agency. It had been closed for 10 months.

The drivers, working on a contract for Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council, have been told to return to work, but their union has advised them to return to the depot if they run into trouble.

While the Nant-y-Gwyddon tip was closed the drivers took rubbish to a tip 30 miles away, costing the council an extra £100,000 a month.
