• The Yorkshire (Hull) area of the Road Haulage Association won an award of merit in Kingston upon Hull Lord Mayor's parade on Saturday with an entry of five vehicles demonstrating the growth and modernization of road transport from the days of the horse and cart to the modern TIR a rtic.

The Hull area of the RHA led the 80 entries in the parade and the fourth of their five vehicles was designed as a float showing development of road haulage from local activity, through national usage to covering the world—with a look at the future. It was staffed by girls from the Vera Skelton school of dancing. RHA members' daughters and office staff dressed in costumes symbolizing the international activities of the Association.
