THE NEW BOSS OF UK Pallets has launched a restructuring programme which involves partial integration with its ailing parent group Business Post.

Terry Richards is streamlining the business by merging the role of three directors into tme and sending his sales director home on gardening leave: "I have three sales people and they will report directly into the [parent] group. It does mean we have a sales director whose job is now redundant — but the person isn't."

The three other directors are still working for the company and have all been invited to apply for the role of operations director.

Since his appointment three months ago, Richards has carried out a factfinding tour of the company's 70 partners:"The company is making a profit but not as much as we would like."

UK Pallets was acquired by Business Post three years ago but until now has been run as a stand-alone busi ness. In December, Guy Buswell took over as Business Post chief executive following a succession of profit warnings.
