Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A jailed haulage boss described by a judge as a "dishonest, manipulative and skillful fraudster" has been ordered to pay back more than £180,000 he swindled out of firms.

Christopher Trletline, who is already serving a five-year jail term, was ordered to pay the £181.750 confiscation order or face an extra 30 months in prison.

Trietline was jailed in February 2001 along with two other men, James Tangye and Arthur Waite, for running three family haulage firms into the ground (CM 7-13 March 2002). Deadman Transport, Headman Transport (Midlands) and Deadman Groupage were all wound up in 1996-97.

The trio forged invoices to generate cash and put up land and vehicles they did not own as security for loans. They also accepted credit with no realistic prospect of meeting their repayments. Despite being effectively insolvent, the companies continued to run up losses of over 12m. Judge Adele Williams described lrietline as "a dishonest, manipulative and skillful fraudster hiding behind a veneer of respectability".
