Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I OBSERVE in your issue of January 2, that my lecture I on rubber-to-metal bonding given before the members of The Institute of Road Transport Engineers is referred to both in "Passing Comments" and in a separate article. The latter is a very good condensation of some of the many points, but the comment on engine mountings is not quite clear.

I think the term "longitudinal stresses" has been used rather loosely; the point I made in the discussion is that the longitudinal movement on declutching is reduced by properly designed bonded units. If the word " stresses " were replaced by " strains " or "deflections," all would be clear. No doubt most of your readers will follow what was meant, but I hope that it will not be too much trouble to correct this point in a future issue.
